Sundays often carry a weight beyond the usual weekend rest. They hold moments of reflection, connection, and sometimes quiet struggle. This Sunday was no different. It began with a shared spiritual experience at Quinault Valley Chapel, streamed live to friends and family across Mexico, Canada, and parts of Africa. After worship, the day unfolded with simple yet meaningful acts: cooking a meal, caring for the home, and managing personal health. Each part of the day carried its own significance, weaving together faith, nourishment, and emotional work.

Gathering in Faith Across Borders

Every Sunday, Quinault Valley Chapel becomes a hub not just for local worshippers but for a diverse, global congregation. Streaming the service allows people from distant places like Mexico, Canada, and Africa to join in. This connection reminds us that faith can bridge miles and cultures, offering comfort and community even when physically apart.

The act of gathering, whether in person or online, provides a moment to pause and reflect on life’s challenges and blessings. For many, including those watching from afar, this shared time is a source of strength. It’s a reminder that even in grief or hardship, there is a space to find hope and support.

Simple Meals with Deep Meaning

After church, the day shifted to the kitchen. Cooking together became a quiet ritual. Airfrying a rib eye steak alongside potatoes brought warmth and satisfaction. The meal was simple but nourishing, a reminder that food can be a source of comfort and care.

Later, dinner was a light, thoughtful combination: mini cucumbers, peppers, Babybel cheeses, turkey pepperoni, and a pickle. This mix of flavors and textures felt like a small celebration of everyday life. It was a way to honor the body and mind, especially on a day filled with emotional weight.

The Emotional Labor of Cleaning

One of the most challenging parts of the weekend was cleaning a corner of the house on Saturday night. This space holds many memories, especially since it is shared with Mercedes, a daughter whose presence fills the room with both love and sorrow. Sorting through belongings and tidying up stirred emotions that are hard to put into words.

Cleaning this corner is more than a chore; it’s an act of emotional courage. It requires facing the past and the feelings tied to it. The process is slow and sometimes painful, but it also offers a chance to heal and create space for new memories.

Managing Health with Care

This week also involved careful attention to health. A dose of tirzepatide, a medication used to support weight and blood sugar management, was taken with mindfulness. There was a small leftover amount from a previous dose, enough for a 3mg shot, which was used to avoid waste before a visit to grandma’s house.

Balancing medication, emotional work, and daily tasks is a delicate act. It requires patience and self-compassion, especially when grief and change are part of the picture.

Balancing Responsibilities and Emotions

Homework was completed, but a larger assignment remains unfinished. This reflects the ongoing challenge of managing responsibilities while navigating emotional ups and downs. It’s a reminder that progress is not always linear, and sometimes the hardest work happens quietly behind the scenes.

Taking time to acknowledge these struggles without judgment can help build resilience. It’s okay to move slowly and to seek support when needed.
