Starting a new health journey often brings unexpected challenges, especially when it intersects with deep personal emotions and external events. On day six of taking tirzepatide, a medication aimed at improving blood sugar control and supporting weight loss, I found myself balancing my evolving diet, the ache of missing a loved one, and the impact of severe weather in my community. This post shares a snapshot of that day, reflecting on how health, grief, and environment intertwine.

My Day Six Meals on Tirzepatide
Tirzepatide affects appetite and blood sugar, so meal choices become important. For breakfast, I kept it simple with a Jimmy Dean three-meat breakfast bowl paired with a cup of coffee. This provided a satisfying start without overwhelming my system.
Lunch was more vibrant and nutrient-dense. I prepared a small salad featuring eight different vegetables, including leafy greens, bell peppers, cucumbers, carrots, and cherry tomatoes. I added grilled chicken breast for protein and dressed it lightly with Italian dressing. This meal felt balanced and fresh, supporting my energy levels through the afternoon.
Dinner was lighter but still nourishing. I had a small salad with one hard-boiled egg and a serving of pork loin, again with Italian dressing. The protein helped me feel full, while the salad added fiber and vitamins.
Tracking these meals helps me stay mindful of how tirzepatide influences my hunger and food choices. It also reminds me to prioritize whole foods and lean proteins, which support both blood sugar control and overall wellness.
Some of the side effects of this medication are constipation, but I am glad that my coffee helps me out in that area. Still drinking lots of water too, adding more each day, and so far I have not put anything in that water like water packs. Not sure if I will add them.
Remembering Mercedes During the Holidays
This is my second Christmas without Mercedes, my only child. The first holiday after her passing was a blur, filled with numbness and shock. This year feels different. I am actively working through my grief in therapy, and it is helping me process the loss more healthily.
Looking at pictures of Mercedes today brought a wave of emotions. I miss her deeply, but I also feel grateful for the memories we shared. Grief is not a linear path. Some days are harder than others, and the holidays often amplify those feelings.
Therapy has given me tools to cope, such as:
Allowing myself to feel sadness without judgment
Creating rituals to honor her memory
Connecting with supportive friends and family
These steps do not erase the pain but make it more manageable. If you are grieving, know that seeking help can be a powerful part of healing.

The Impact of Flooding and Canceled Plans
Living in Western Washington means dealing with the rainy season, but this year the weather has been extreme. An atmospheric river event has brought heavy rain and flooding to the area. This phenomenon occurs when a narrow corridor of concentrated moisture in the atmosphere moves over land, dumping large amounts of rain in a short time. It can cause rivers to overflow, landslides, and widespread disruption. Yes I had to look up this definition since I am not a weather person.
Because of the flooding, my niece Emma’s basketball game was canceled. While disappointing, safety comes first. The flooding has affected many families here, reminding me how nature’s forces can disrupt daily life unexpectedly.

This event also highlights the importance of community support during crises. Neighbors check on each other, local agencies provide assistance, and people come together to recover.

Balancing Health, Grief, and Environment
Day six of my tirzepatide journey was more than just about medication and meals. It was a day of emotional reflection and adapting to external challenges. Here are some lessons from this experience:
Mindful eating supports physical and emotional health. Choosing balanced meals helps manage tirzepatide’s effects and keeps energy steady.
Grief requires patience and support. Therapy and remembering loved ones can ease the pain over time.
Environmental events affect mental well-being. Flooding and canceled plans add stress, but community connection can provide comfort.
Taking care of health means addressing body, mind, and surroundings. Each aspect influences the others.
Moving Forward with Compassion and Care
If you are on a health journey like tirzepatide or coping with loss, remember you are not alone. Small steps in nutrition, seeking help for grief, and staying informed about your environment can make a difference. The holidays may bring mixed emotions, but they also offer moments to honor memories and build resilience.
Stay connected with those who support you. Embrace the changes in your body and emotions with kindness. And when nature challenges your plans, find strength in community and self-care.
Your journey is unique, and every day brings new opportunities to grow and heal.
