Losing weight is often seen as a race to a finish line, but the reality is that it’s a journey made up of many small steps. This week, I lost 2 pounds. It might not seem like a huge victory, but after indulging in egg rolls and french fries over the past two weeks, it feels like a meaningful step forward. I’ve learned that moderation is key, and maybe deep-fried foods should be a once-a-month treat instead of a regular habit. Now, I’m down 30.5 pounds overall, and that progress keeps me motivated.

Tracking Progress with Honesty
One of the most important parts of my journey has been keeping a food journal. On Tuesday, for example, I started the day with a Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew. For lunch and dinner, I had a double protein rotisserie chicken bowl from Subway, eating about three-quarters of it split between the two meals. This kind of tracking helps me stay aware of what I’m putting into my body without feeling deprived.
Writing down what I eat also helps me recognize patterns. When I notice that I’ve been eating more fried foods than usual, I can adjust my habits. It’s not about perfection but about understanding how certain choices affect my progress.
Finding Balance Between Indulgence and Discipline
Eating egg rolls and french fries for two weeks straight wasn’t the best choice, but it taught me a valuable lesson. Enjoying deep-fried foods occasionally is fine, but making them a regular part of my diet slows down my progress. Now, I’m aiming to limit these indulgences to once a month.
This balance is crucial for long-term success. Completely cutting out favorite foods can lead to frustration and binge eating. Instead, I focus on moderation and savoring treats without guilt. This mindset keeps me consistent and prevents burnout.
Staying Productive and Active
Besides watching what I eat, staying active and productive has helped me maintain momentum. On the same day I tracked my meals, I also managed to get some payroll work done for a client and helped my mom by picking up a few supplies. After that, I drove home and took time to relax.
Keeping busy with meaningful tasks distracts me from unnecessary snacking and keeps my mind focused on goals beyond just weight loss. Productivity and physical health often go hand in hand.
